Acyclovir

Acyclovir is used to treat infections caused by certain types of viruses. It treats cold sores around the mouth (caused by herpes simplex), shingles (caused by herpes zoster), and chickenpox. This medication is also used to treat outbreaks of genital herpes. In people with frequent outbreaks, acyclovir is used to help reduce the number of future episodes. Acyclovir is an antiviral drug.

Aminophylline

Aminophylline belongs to a group of medicines known as bronchodilators. Bronchodilators are medicines that relax the muscles in the bronchial tubes (air passages) of the lungs. They relieve cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, and troubled breathing by increasing the flow of air through the bronchial tubes. Many vets prescribe this for animals to treat bronchitis or asthma.

Amitriptyline

Amitriptyline is used to treat symptoms of depression. Amitriptyline is in a class of medications called tricyclic antidepressants. It works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain that are needed to maintain mental balance.

Amoxicillin

Amoxicillin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections, it will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Amoxicillin is also used with other medications to treat stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by the bacteria H. pylori and to prevent the ulcers from returning.

Ascorbic acid

Ascorbic acid also known at Vitamin C, is usually combined in bleaching creams that dermatologists prescribe to patients. Vitamin C also helps to lighten pigmentation on skin. It helps reduce redness and helps even out skin tones.

Baclofen

Baclofen is used to help relax certain muscles in your body. It relieves the spasms, cramping, and tightness of muscles caused by medical problems, including multiple sclerosis or certain injuries to the spine. Baclofen does not cure these problems, but it may allow other treatment, such as physical therapy, to be more helpful in improving your condition.

Benzocaine

Benzocaine belongs to a group of medicines known as topical local anesthetics. This medicine does not cause unconsciousness like general anesthetics do when used for surgery. It is used for a numbing topical agent for many cosmetic procedures.

Betahistine

Betahistine is an antivertigo agent used for the reduction of episodes of vertigo association with Ménière's disease.

Betamethasone

Betamethasone topical is used to treat the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions, including psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the body) and eczema (a skin disease that causes the skin to be dry and itchy and to sometimes develop red, scaly rashes).

Boric Acid

Boric Acid can be used to help treat different infections in the ear. Boric Acid also helps to promote the proper acid balance in the vagina. It can be used to help treat yeast infections of the vagina and relieve symptoms such as itching and burning.

Budesonide

Budesonide is in a class of medications called corticosteroids; it is prescribed in different forms for different uses. Some prescribers use it to treat Eosinophilic Esophagitis in a slurry form. Budesonide is also used to treat Crohn's disease (a condition in which the body attacks the lining of the digestive tract, causing pain, diarrhea, weight loss, and fever).

Bupivacaine

Bupivacaine is used for local anesthesia; it decreases feeling in a specific area. It is used in some dental gels to help numb the area it is applied to.

Cholesterol

This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions (such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, allergies, rash). Clobetasol reduces the swelling, itching, and redness that can occur in these types of conditions. This medication is a very strong (super-high-potency) corticosteroid.

Chrysin

Chrysin is found in various plants and can be used to help reduce estrogen in the body to help increase or produce more testosterone.

Ciprofloxacin

This medication is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Ciprofloxacin belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for virus infections (such as common cold, flu).

Clindamycin

Clindamycin is used to treat certain types of bacterial infections, including infections of the lungs, skin, blood, female reproductive organs, and internal organs. It works by slowing or stopping the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics such as clindamycin will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. Using antibiotics when they are not needed increases your risk of getting an infection later that resists antibiotic treatment.

Clobetasol

This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions (such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, allergies, rash). Clobetasol reduces the swelling, itching, and redness that can occur in these types of conditions.

Cyclobenzaprine

Cyclobenzaprine is used to help relax certain muscles in your body. It helps relieve pain, stiffness, and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, or injuries to your muscles. Cyclobenzaprine acts on the central nervous system (CNS) to produce its muscle relaxant effects.

Desonide

Desonide is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort of various skin conditions, including psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the body and eczema (a skin disease that causes the skin to be dry and itchy and to sometimes develop red, scaly rashes). Desonide is in a class of medications called topical corticosteroids. It works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching.

Dexamethasone

Dexamethasone is in a class of medications called corticosteroids. It relieves inflammation (swelling, heat, redness, and pain) and is used to treat certain forms of arthritis; skin, blood, kidney, eye, thyroid, and intestinal disorders (e.g., colitis); severe allergies; and asthma. Some bleaching creams include dexamethasone to help reduce redness in the skin. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Dextromethorphan

Dextromethorphan is used to temporarily relieve cough caused by the common cold, the flu, or other conditions. Dextromethorphan is in a class of medications called antitussives. It works by decreasing activity in the part of the brain that causes coughing.

DHEA

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone that your body naturally produces in the adrenal gland. DHEA helps produce other hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. Natural DHEA levels peak in early adulthood and then slowly fall as you age.

Diclofenac

Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug class used to help treat pain caused by arthritis or joint pain. It can help reduce inflammation and swelling and treats mild-to-moderate pain.

Diltiazem

Diltiazem is used to treat high blood pressure or compounded to help anal fissues. Diltiazem is in a class of medications called calcium-channel blockers. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard.

Doxycycline

Doxycycline is used to treat a variety of infections caused by certain types of bacteria. Doxycycline is also used to treat or prevent anthrax (a serious infection that may be spread on purpose as part of a bioterror attack) in people who may have been exposed to anthrax in the air and to treat plague and tuleramia (serious infections that may be spread on purpose as part of a bioterror attack). It is also used to prevent malaria.

Dyclonine

Dyclonine is an oral anesthetic that can be compounded into a gel or a rinse to help with numbing or pain relief.

Estradiol

Estradiol is used to help reduce symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, night sweats, decreased libido. This happens when the body is making less estrogen and hormone levels are off. This medication can be compounded in different forms and different dosages.

Estrone

Estrone is a female sex hormone. The weakest type of estrogen, it’s typically higher after menopause. Like all estrogen, estrone supports female sexual development and function. Low or high estrone can cause symptoms such as irregular bleeding, fatigue or mood swings.

Famciclovir

Famciclovir is used to treat infections caused by certain types of viruses. It treats shingles caused by herpes zoster. It also treats outbreaks of herpes simplex that cause cold sores around the mouth, sores around the anus, and genital herpes. In people with frequent outbreaks of genital herpes, famciclovir is used to help reduce the number of future episodes. Famciclovir is an antiviral drug. However, it is not a cure for these infections.

Finasteride

Finasteride can be used to help with hair loss, it can be taken orally or compounded into a topical solution with other ingredients. It helps by reducing DHT levels to promote hair growth.

Hydroquinone is a skin-lightening agent, it is usually one of the main ingredients in bleaching creams. It can be helpful when treating different forms of hyperpigmentation. It is used in topical creams either alone or with a combination of other ingredients to help with skin lightening.

Ketoprofen

Ketoprofen is used to relieve pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness caused by different forms of arthritis. It can also help with nerve pain as well or any mild to moderate pain.

Ketotifen

Ketotifen is used to relieve the itching of allergic pinkeye. Ketotifen is in a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.

Kojic Acid

Kojic acid is used in many bleaching creams to help with hyperpigmentation. Kojic acid inhibits and prevents the formation of tyrosine, which is an amino acid that’s needed to produce dark spots.

Lidocaine

Lidocaine topical jelly or ointment is used on different parts of the body to cause numbness or loss of feeling for patients having certain medical procedures. It is also used to relieve pain and itching caused by conditions such as sunburn or other minor burns, insect bites or stings, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, minor cuts, or scratches.

Liothyronine

Liothyronine is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally made by the thyroid gland. Liothyronine is a man-made form of thyroid hormone.

Melatonin

Melatonin is a natural product found in plants and animals. It is primarily known in animals as a hormone released by the pineal gland in the brain at night, and has long been associated with control of the sleep–wake cycle.

Methimazole

Methimazole is used to treat hyperthyroidism, a condition that occurs when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone. It is also taken before thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine therapy. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Metronidazole

Metronidazole is an antibiotic that is used to treat a wide variety of infections. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria and parasites.This antibiotic treats only certain bacterial and parasitic infections.

Miconazole

Miconazole is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other fungal skin infections (candidiasis). This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil is used to stimulate hair growth and to slow balding. This can be compounded in a low dose oral solution to help promote hair growth or topical sprays applied to areas on the scalp.

Mupirocin

Mupirocin is an antibiotic used to treat impetigo as well as other skin infections caused by bacteria. It helps stop the growth of bacteria on the skin.

Naltrexone

While higher strength naltrexone is used to help with addiction, compounded low dose Naltrexone is used for many different autoimmune diseases. It also has many other uses such as helping with pain, sleep, inflammation, and mental illnesses.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is useful in facial creams to help with acne or helping build cells in skin. Niacinamide, also called nicotinamide, is a form of vitamin B3. It's found in many foods including meat, fish, milk, eggs, green vegetables, and cereals. Niacinamide is required for the function of fats and sugars in the body and to maintain healthy cells.

Nifedipine

Nifedipine is used to treat high blood pressure and to control angina (chest pain). Nifedipine is in a class of medications called calcium-channel blockers. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels, so the heart does not have to pump as hard. It can also be used in compounded creams or ointments to help with anal fissures.

Nystatin

Nystatin is used to treat fungal infections of the inside of the mouth and lining of the stomach and intestines. Nystatin is in a class of antifungal medications called polyenes. It works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause infection.

Phenylephrine

Phenylephrine is used is some nasal medications to relieve nasal congestion. Phenylephrine is also used in some numbing cream compounds for cosmetic procedures to help decrease swelling or bleeding by tightening blood vessels to areas applied.

Potassium Bromide

Potassium bromide is used to help with seizures in both humans and pets.

Pramoxine

Pramoxine is used to temporarily relieve pain and itching from insect bites; poison ivy, poison oak, or poison sumac; minor cuts, scrapes, or burns; minor skin irritation or rashes; or dry, itchy skin. Pramoxine also may be used to treat soreness, burning, itching, and pain from hemorrhoids (''piles'') and other minor rectal irritations or itching. Pramoxine is in a class of medications called topical anesthetics. It works by stopping nerves from sending pain signals.

Prazosin

Prazosin is in a class of medications called alpha-blockers which helps treat high blood pressure. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the body. Many vets prescribe this for pets to help relax the bladder for easier urination.

Prednisolone is a man-made form of a natural substance (corticosteroid hormone) made by the adrenal gland. It is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood problems, immune system disorders, skin and eye conditions, breathing problems, cancer, and severe allergies. It is used for pets with inflammation from arthritis, certain autoimmune disease, or for allergies.

Pregnenolone

Pregnenolone is a precursor hormone found in the human body produced by the adrenal gland. It helps with cognitive functions enhancing memory. It also helps with stress levels and helps depression.

Prilocaine

Prilocaine is a topical anesthetic that causes loss of feeling in the skin and surrounding tissues. It is used to numb the skin before procedures or injections.

Progesterone

Progesterone is a hormone that occurs naturally in the body. It's involved in pregnancy and is produced mainly in the ovaries. Progesterone levels can affect menstrual periods and menopausal symptoms.

Salicylic acid

Topical salicylic acid is used to help clear and prevent pimples and skin blemishes in people who have acne. Topical salicylic acid is also used to treat skin conditions that involve scaling or overgrowth of skin cells such as psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the body), ichthyoses (inborn conditions that cause skin dryness and scaling), dandruff, corns, calluses, and warts on the hands or feet.

Tetracaine

Tetracaine is a local anaesthetic agent used to induce local analgesia in the eyes and skin during medical procedures. Tetracaine is an ester-type anesthetic and produces local anesthesia by blocking the sodium ion channels involved in the initiation and conduction of neuronal impulses.

Tetracycline

Tetracycline is used to treat infections caused by bacteria including pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections; certain infections of skin, eye, lymphatic, intestinal, genital and urinary systems.

Thymol

Thymol is sometimes used in solutions to help with fungal infection in the nails

Triamcinolone

Triamcinolone is a glucocorticoid used to treat certain skin diseases, allergies, and rheumatic disorders among others. It is also used to prevent worsening of asthma and COPD. It can be compounded in creams or oral solutions to help with skin issues or oral sores.

Trilostane

Trilostane, sold under the brand names Modrenal and Vetoryl among others, is a medication which has been used in the treatment of Cushing's syndrome, Conn's syndrome, and postmenopausal breast cancer in humans.

Ursodiol

Ursodiol is used in pets to help treat liver disease. It is also used to dissolve gallstones in people who do not want surgery or cannot have surgery to remove gallstones. Ursodiol is also used to prevent the formation of gallstones in overweight people who are losing weight very quickly.

Verapamil

Verapamil is used to treat high blood pressure and to control angina (chest pain). Verapamil compounded creams can help with Peyronie’s Disease. Verapamil is in a class of medications called calcium-channel blockers. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard. It also increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart and slows electrical activity in the heart to control the heart rate.
